The Cat's Paw and Prawn nebula are two stunning examples of interstellar clouds located in the Sagittarius constellation. These nebulae are situated in close proximity to each other, with the Cat's Paw nebula being slightly larger and more well-known.
The Cat's Paw nebula gets its name from its resemblance to a feline pawprint, with its "toes" stretching out into space. In contrast, the Prawn nebula is named after its uncanny resemblance to a giant shrimp or prawn. These nebulae are located around 4370 and 6000 light years from Earth respectively.
Just under 20 hours of integration with narrowband filters in Bortle 6 skies from Perth, Western Australia, mapped to the SHO palette.
